Liz Bird, along with two guests, were formally invited by Selina Graham, the High Sheriff of Shropshire’ to a ‘Celebration of Volunteers’ on October 2nd 2022 at the “Cow Palace” by Foresters Hall in Broseley and what a fabulous afternoon they had!

The High Sheriff is a passionate advocate of volunteering and the impact it has in the county and wants to use her influence and spread the pleasure it can give, as well as the mental health benefits, the social and life skills, career enhancing opportunities – and fun!

Over 300 volunteers, representing a wide range of diverse organisations across Shropshire, gathered for afternoon tea. The High Sheriff asked those present to pass back her gratitude to all their organisations’ volunteers for their unselfish work. She commented that many of those volunteers probably didn’t realise the huge difference they are making to the lives of those affected by their efforts and left this memorable quote “If you think you are too small to make a difference, then you’ve never had a mosquito in your bed!”.
